A new place for photography: İstanbul Fotoğraf Galerisi /The Photographers’ Gallery İstanbul

Our new gallery will host qualified and contemporary photograph exhibitions from master photographers, besides up and coming photo artists. The gallery will also organise panels, demonstrations, workshops and seminars from reputable artists and lecturers. Istanbul Fotoğraf Galerisi aims to create a living art space and promote the art of photography in all parts of society.

In this context, the gallery’s opening exhibition will be Timurtaş Onan’s “Terk edilmiş/Abandoned” in Beyoğlu, the heart of the city’s art scene. Those interested in photography can visit the exhibition between February 2nd and March 14th.

Photographer Timurtaş Onan has been part of many domestic and international events and opened exhibitions at home and abroad since1980. In his exhibition “Terk edilmiş / Abandoned”, Onan takes a bold approach to narrate the silent atmosphere of some of Istanbul’s most significant historical and cultural assets  Haliç and Camiialtı dockyards, just before the mega affects of urban regeneration take effect.

Timurtaş Onan – Photographer and director. Born in Istanbul. He started his work in photography in 1980. Onan has been working as a professional photographer for 25 years and participated in numerous events, published books, shot documentary films and had solo exhibitions in Turkey and abroad.
